Mr. Gunderson is currently a Director-at-Large on the board of the\nCouncil of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB), through 2020.\nHe recently attended the quarterly CLARB Board of Directors (BOD) meeting in\nNashville, TN, on March 6-7, 2020. His attendance at this meeting was \u201cbook-ended\u201d\nby several traumatic events\u2015violent tornadoes that struck down in\nthe Nashville area just hours before he arrived\u2015and the start of the\ncoronavirus outbreak, as he was leaving on Sunday, March 8, 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The March meeting included\npresentations on CLARB\u2019s on-going \u2018Rethink Regulation\u2019 initiative. An\nintrospective presentation was delivered by Ms. Rebecca Haw Allensworth, a law\nprofessor at the Vanderbilt School of Law. She presented a contrarian viewpoint\nof licensure boards, in general, and spoke to anti-trust liability issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Jeff DeCagna gave the feature\nBoard presentation on \u201cDesigning the Director Experience.\u201d It was a very lucid\naccount of the role of stewardship, in leading organizational governance, from\na stability, sustainability & resilient point of view. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During my free time, I explored Nashville\nand surrounding environs for executed works of landscape architecture. The\nimage, above, is an historic bridge, repurposed for the pedestrian experience,\ncrossing the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville. I also toured the historic\nBelle Meade horse plantation, along the nationally significant \u2018Old Natchez\nTrace\u2019 forest trail, and the mixed-use development next to the Grand Ole Opry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
