Mr. Sones is an associate of the SGA Group, a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). He specializes in geographic information science (GISci), and has had several years of experience – educationally and professionally – with using geospatial software, as well as graphic design and drafting software. Carl’s specific focus within the realm of GISci includes geodatabase management, GIS programming, data collection, cartography, and geodesign.

Previous to joining SGA Group, Mr. Sones worked as a GIS/Natural Resources Intern for the City of Mendota Heights, MN, Public Works Department. In this capacity, he updated the city’s geospatial data for stormwater outfalls, ash tree inspections, and various other features. He, also, worked on implementing Esri’s ArcGIS Pro software into the city public works and environmental departments. This mapping and location analytics software, along with the introduction of ArcGIS Online and the Collector app, improved the city’s collection and analyzing of field data.

Mr. Sones is a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard – since July of 2019 – serving as a human resources specialist.
